Functions</a>\nby Nil Şahin (Bilkent University) as part of METU Mathemat
ics General Seminar\n\nLecture held in Gündüz İkeda Seminar Room\, Math
ematics Department.\n\nAbstract\nThe study of numerical semigroups finds i
ts classical roots in the "Frobenius Coin Problem"\, famously popularized
by J.J. Sylvester in the late 19th century. Sylvester’s initial question
"determining the largest integer that cannot be expressed as a non-negati
ve integer linear combination of a given set of coprime integers" laid the
groundwork for what is now a rich intersection of combinatorics and commu
tative algebra.\n\nThrough the construction of semigroup rings\, these com
binatorial objects provide a natural framework for studying the geometric
and algebraic properties of monomial curves. In particular\, the link betw
een the numerical semigroup and the Hilbert function of its associated gra
ded ring has become a focal point of recent research. Characterizing numer
ical functions that might be Hilbert functions of one-dimensional Cohen-Ma
caulay local rings is an open question.\n\nThere is a conjecture by Judith
Sally stating that the "Hilbert function of a one-dimensional Cohen-Macau
lay local ring with small enough embedding dimension is non-decreasing". I
n this talk\, we will focus on 4-generated symmetric and pseudo-symmetric
monomial curves. We will demonstrate that 4-generated pseudo-symmetric mon
 omial curves satisfy Sally’s conjecture.\n

Finding arbitrarily long arithmetic progressions in certain subsets of the
integers has become one of the most important problems in mathematics ove
r the last century. One of the most famous results in this area was proved
by Szemerédi in 1975\, and it states that every subset of the positive i
ntegers with positive upper density contains arbitrarily long arithmetic p
rogression. In this talk\, we will discuss some results concerning the num
ber of 3-term arithmetic progressions in certain subsets of finite rings u
sing finite Fourier analysis.\n\nInterested participants may send an email

\nAbstract\nGroups arise naturally in the study of symmetry\, and represen
tation theory studies\ngroups through linear algebra. In this talk\, we wi
ll introduce a categorical framework in\nwhich finite groups appear as obj
ects and the morphisms between them encode natural\noperations from repres

ation functors\,\nobtained from suitable bimodules\, and $p$-bifree biset
functors\, obtained by restricting to a\ndistinguished class of bisets. Th
ese constructions connect naturally with current questions\nin modular rep

ctrum offers a framework for analyzing the complexity of tensors. It has f
ound applications in diverse areas\, from computer science to additive com
binatorics and quantum information. A long-standing open problem\, dating
back to 1991\, asks whether Strassen's support functionals are universal s
pectral points\, that is\, points in the asymptotic spectrum of tensors.\n
\nIn this talk\, we answer this question in the affirmative by proving tha
t the support functionals coincide with the quantum functionals - universa
l spectral points that are defined via entropy optimization on entanglemen
t polytopes. We obtain this result as a special case of a general minimax
formula for convex optimization on entanglement polytopes (and other momen
t polytopes) that has further applications to other tensor parameters\, in
cluding the asymptotic slice rank. Our proof is based on a recent Fenchel-

nOver the rational numbers\, it is conjectured that the number of irreduci

the iterates of a polynomial behave over finite fields? This brings us to
the notion of settledness.\n\nIn this talk\, we will discuss two settled

are naturally subgroups of the automorphism group of a regular binary tree

f counterexamples and novel phenomena in geometric group theory. Roughly s
peaking\, given a group acting by homeomorphisms on a zero-dimensional spa

tterns" must appear in sufficiently large combinatorial structures. Ramsey
theory of ordinals and cardinals has been an active research area since t
he introduction of partition calculus by Erd\\H{o}s and Rado in 1950's. Th
ese studies were later generalized to topological spaces by Baumgartner. I
n recent years\, Caicedo and Hilton initiated an investigation of closed a
nd topological partition relations on countable ordinals and this investig
ation has attracted some attention.\n\nIn the first part of the talk\, we
