DESCRIPTION:Title: <a href="https://master.researchseminars.org/talk/BUAG/
 1/">Almost André in Positive Characteristic</a>\nby Boran Alparslan (Bilk
 ent University) as part of Bilkent University Arithmetic Geometry Seminar\
 n\nLecture held in SA 141\, Bilkent university.\n\nAbstract\nAbstract: The
  André–Oort theorem (Jacob Tsimerman together with Pila and\nShankar\,
 2021) characterizes algebraic subvarieties of Shimura varieties\nthat cont
 ain a Zariski-dense set of special points: such subvarieties\nmust themsel
 ves be special.\n\nIn the simplest nontrivial case\, $Y(1)^2_{\\mathbb{C}}
 $ \, this\nclassification is particularly explicit. The special curves are
  the\nvertical and horizontal fibers above CM points\, together with the\n
 modular curves defined by the modular polynomials $\\Phi_N(X\,Y)$. André'
 s\ntheorem asserts that any irreducible algebraic curve containing\ninfini
 tely many special points must belong to this list.\n\nIn this talk\, I wil
 l present a proof of a positive-characteristic\nvariant of André's theore
 m for the product of two modular curves.\n
